Are liquid hand sanitizers allowed on a plane?

You are allowed to bring one liquid hand sanitizer container, up to 12 ounces per person, in carry-on bags.

Los Angeles Airport Marijuana Rule

As of January 1, 2018, California law allows for individuals 21 years of age or older to possess up to 28.5 grams of marijuana and 8 grams of concentrated marijuana for personal consumption. With the change in state law, the policy and procedures of the Los Angeles Airport Police Division (APD) regarding marijuana were updated to reflect this change. APD officers, who are California Peace Officers, have no jurisdiction to arrest individuals if they are complying with state law. However, airport guests should be aware that Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening stations are under federal jurisdiction. Also, passengers should be aware that marijuana laws vary state by state and they are encouraged to check the laws of the states in which they plan to travel.

How early should I arrive to Los Angeles Airport (LAX) before departure

While there is no set specific time, it is highly recommended to arrive 3 hours before your departure. This is the standard rule within Los Angeles Airport

Can you take open bottle alcohol on the plane?

All alcohol must be unopened to be taken on a plane. Beverages containing more than 70% alcohol (more than 140 proof) are forbidden in carry-on and checked baggage. Alcoholic beverages containing 24% or less alcohol by volume are not restricted as hazardous materials. This includes beers and most wines but must be unopened in retail packaging. Quantity limits: 5 L (1.3 gallons) per packaging and 5 L total per passenger.

Can I Bring Alcohol into the US from Another Country

One liter of alcohol per person may be entered into United States duty-free by travelers who are 21 years or older. Additional quantities will be subject to duty and Federal Excise taxes. There is no federal limit on the amount of alcohol you import into the United States for personal use, however, large quantities might raise the suspicion. Also keep in mind each state may have its own rules and regulations as well.

Can I take a Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo or other gaming consoles as carry-on

Yes, you can take these as both carry-on and checked bags according to the TSA however it is always recommended to check with the airlines to make sure as each airline may have its own rules. Ensure all cords are wrapped neatly and packed safely to avoid any damage.

Los Angeles Airport (LAX) Parking

There are many ways to get to and from LAX safely, including:

  • The FlyAway Shuttle offers nonstop bus service between LAX and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, as well as Van Nuys.
  • Ride-hailing apps: Lyft, Uber, and Opoli are the authorized ride-hailing apps at LAX. You can be dropped off directly at your terminal on the Upper/Departures level when arriving at LAX, and picked up at the LAX-it lot next to Terminal 1 when leaving LAX.
  • Taxis: Taxis are also available to and from LAX. They may drop passengers off at their terminals on the Upper/Departures Level, and guests leaving from LAX can pick up taxis at the LAX-it lot, inside Parking Structure 3.
  • Driving and parking: There are several parking garages available at LAX, with the first 15 minutes free and a daily maximum fee of $50. There is also a free shuttle bus service that runs between the parking garages and the terminals.
  • Public transportation: Several public transit providers serve LAX, including L.A. Metro, Culver City Bus Lines, Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, Torrance Transit, and Beach Cities Transit. Passengers can pick up many bus lines from the LAX City Bus Center.
  • Hotel shuttles: Many major airport-area hotels provide courtesy transportation from LAX terminals. Stops for shuttles to hotels are located on the Upper/Departures Level identified by RED curbside pylons.

What Items Can I Bring into the US from overseas

If you are traveling outside the US and returning or Visiting the US some foods depending on the region or country from which you are traveling. You must declare all food products.

The following are generally admissible:

  • Condiments: ketchup (catsup), mustard, mayonnaise, Marmite and Vegemite and prepared sauces that do not contain meat products
  • Olive oil and other vegetable oils
  • Bread, cookies,crackers, cakes,granola bars, cereal and other baked and processed products
  • Candy and chocolate
  • Cheese – Solid cheese that does not contain meat are admissible.
  • Liquid milk and milk products intended for use by infants or very young children are admissible if in a reasonable amount or small quantity for several days. 
  • Juices – Commercially packaged
  • Tea- Commercially packaged and ready to be boiled, steeped or microwaved in liquid. Coca, barberry and loose citrus leaves are prohibited
  • Spices – most dried spices are allowed except for orange, lemon, lime and other citrus leaves and seeds, lemongrass, and many vegetable and fruit seeds
  • Noodles and ramen that do not have animal products in the ingredients.
  • Flour
  • Mushrooms -fresh, dried and above the ground parts that are clean and free of soil
  • Nuts – Roasted
  • Bakery items, candy, chocolate, and dry mixes containing dairy and egg ingredients commercially labeled and presented in final finished packaging are generally admissible.
  • Aloe- above ground parts
  • Coconuts-husks must have been completely removed and cannot have sprouted
  • Garlic- peeled cloves
  • Ginger- clean roots
  • St. John’s bread- pod
  • Tamarind bean pod
  • Water chestnut- corm or nut only
