Whether you are flying into Burbank Airport or flying out and have a few hours to spare there are a few things to do near Burbank airport. One thing to note is the Burbank airport is much smaller and not as busy so you do not need to arrive hours before take off. As a matter of fact, (not that I recommend it) but I have flown out of Burbank airport and arrived 30 minutes before departure and have been just fine.

So what are some things to do near Burbank Airport

It really varies based on how much time you have but assuming you have at least 4 hours here are a few things to do near Burbank airport.

Visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour:

This is a must-do for any fan of movies and TV shows. The tour takes you behind the scenes of some of the most famous sets in Hollywood, including Friends, Big Bang Theory, and The Big Lebowski. It is about 10 minute drive from the Burbank airport. The tour itself lasts about 3 hours so ensure you have enough time for this.

The tour takes visitors through the studio’s backlot, where they can see some of the most iconic sets from films and TV shows. Visitors also get to see the studio’s prop warehouse, where they can see costumes, props, and vehicles from their favorite movies and TV shows. The tour also includes a visit to the Warner Bros. Archives, where visitors can learn about the studio’s history and see some of its most prized possessions.

Here are some other things to know about the Warner Bros. Studio Tour:

  • The tour is offered in a variety of languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, and Italian.
  • The tour is wheelchair accessible.
  • There are a variety of tour options available, including a VIP tour and a studio tram tour.
  • Tickets for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour can be purchased online or at the studio.

Visit Universal Studios CityWalk

Universal Studios CityWalk is a 3-acre outdoor dining, shopping, and entertainment complex located in Universal City, California. It is adjacent to Universal Studios Hollywood and is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. CityWalk has over 30 restaurants to choose from, offering a variety of cuisines, from casual to fine dining. Some of the most popular restaurants include The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar, Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. as well as a ton of attractions and shops.

Universal Studios CityWalk is located about 8 miles from the Burbank Airport. Given the traffic around Burbank and neighboring cities I would estimate it would be about a 20 minute drive. Given the short amount of time do not go into Universal Studios Hollywood theme park, which is right next to CityWalk.

Visit The Mystic Museum

The Mystic Museum is a museum and vintage souvenir shop that sells horror-themed merchandise, including toys, clothing, jewelry, and home decor. The museum also has a small collection of oddities, such as shrunken heads and taxidermied animals.

It is open from 11am to 7pm, seven days a week. Admission is $16 for adults and $12 for children and is located approximately 6 miles away from the Burbank Airport.

The Mystic Museum is a popular tourist destination, especially for fans of horror movies and TV shows. It is also a great place to find unique gifts and souvenirs. If you are a fan of horror movies or oddities, then The Mystic Museum is definitely worth a visit. You can probably be done with the entire museum within one hour.

Visit Downtown Burbank

Downtown Burbank is a great area to visit. It’s full of restaruants and shops. You can walk down San Fernando Blvd and just be entertained by all of the shops and restaurants. You can enjoy some food from numerous offerings.

Downtown Burbank is approximately 7 miles away from the airport. I would anticipate a minimum of 1 hour is needed. You can of course stay longer but if you have 1 hour to spare it should be enough time.

West Coast Customs

If you are into cars another close quick option is to visit West Coast Customs. They do have tours available to walk through the shop and see the projects and cool cars they have made. West Coast Customs is located about 5 miles from the airport and is approximately a 10 minute drive.
